Press Release of the Press Office of SYRIZA for the General Strike in 5 May 2010

We salute the unprecedented and monumental general strike and workers' mobilization, their massive participation to the gatherings and demonstrations, which are the biggest that have happened in our country for decades.

We express our sincere and deep grief for the tragic death of three bank employees. At the same time, we express our trenchant condemnation against those who are responsible for their unjust loss and we demand the full detection of the events.

Today's mobilizations are the starting point of new, more massive workers’ struggles, against the most barbaric and antisocial measures that have been taken, not only in our country, but all over Europe, in recent years.

The government, with its deeply antisocial policy and the appeal to the EU-IMF Mechanism, triggers the social conflict.
