Condolences and solidarity to the Spanish people

The President of SYN Nikos Constantopoulos accompanied by Nikos Houndis and Panos Trigazis visited the Spanish Embassy on 12 March 2004 and met with the Spanish ambassador in Athens Mr. Eduardo Junco.

At the end of the meeting he made the following statements:

“We expressed our solidarity to the Spanish people and the Spanish government for this terrifying and painful blow which cost the lives of hundreds of innocent victims. Such attacks cause a generalized destabilization, wound democracy and can have no excuse, no alibi. They constitute acts of blind violence against innocent people, everyday working people and we express our aversion and sorrow at such deeds.

The peoples must struggle in solidarity for a democratic, stable Europe. Such attacks should not make more people bleed, should not cause any more unrest in our times, should not be used to lead to the crippling of democracy and stabilization”.
